Quill + Chorus - June

June

Hello, dear friends! I hope you enjoy some lovely weather this June! I apologize for not writing in May; we had a very busy end of the school year that included a ballet showcase, moving everything back home after being away for ballet training for a year, and wrapping up school. I am looking forward to a few weeks of rest before starting my summer ballet intensives!

This month's poem is "Going" by Philip Larkin. I enjoyed the depiction of evening as a person coming across fields, and as a silken blanket.

This month's Musing highlights several books that immerse you into Shakespeare's world! They are perfect for a light summer read or a new family read-aloud.

Poetry

Going

By Philip Larkin

There is an evening coming in
Across the fields, one never seen before,
That lights no lamps.

Silken it seems at a distance, yet
When it is drawn up over the knees and breast
It brings no comfort.

Where has the tree gone, that locked
Earth to the sky? What is under my hands,
That I cannot feel?

What loads my hands down?

Musings

William's World

Two books set in Shakespeare's time

Quotes

A flower blooms for its own joy. - Oscar Wilde

Happy summer adventuring!

Quill + Chorus September Hello, dear friends! Although it's already September, it is still hot enough to feel like summer where I live. You can catch a few sneak peeks on my IG stories ☺️ This month's poem is by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. It calls to mind the ripening of autumn and windswept, cooler days....
